Girls
On Girls' second full-length album 'Father, Son, Holy Ghost,' the San Francisco duo of Christopher Owens and Chet “JR” White continue to brighten their mood and expand their sound. Owens explores classic Brill Building pop songcraft, some serious psych-rock guitar chops and even gospel backup singers. It’s a stunning and wholly convincing evolution, and easily one of the year’s best sophomore efforts. Saturday, the band played Terminal 5 with Real Estate, who attain a more nuanced version of SoCal ever-sunny pop.
