Iron and Wine | Radio City Music Hall
Sam Beam breathily sang his way into hipster hearts with lo-fi acoustic ballads—most prominently among them (thanks to “Garden State” and M&M commercials), a stripped-down cover of the Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights.” Since then, he’s shown increasing interest in being more of a band leader than a one-man show. Perhaps it was inevitable, then, that he’d jump to the major labels to make self-described “early-to-mid-‘70s FM, radio-friendly music” with help from a member of an acclaimed Afrobeat band (Antibalas’ Stuart Bogie guests).
