Japandroids
And you thought Canadian hard rock duos were finished when Death From Above 1979 broke up. The excellently named Japandroids were hoping to add a third member on vocals way back when, but decided to keep it in-house and just split up singing duties. Luckily for us, both members can wail, as exemplified on their smashing debut “Post-Nothing,” a hard, lo-fi effort that straddles the line between punk, hard rock and noise-rock in the vein of No Age. Japandroids sound like a good garage band that grew up and got better, pumping out fist-pounding anthems best experienced live. With Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band.
