With Telepathe and Tanlines
Yes, it was nearly 10 years ago that The Strokes' debut album “This Is It” was released and—cue God-like booming tones—changed the history of rock and roll as we know it. Like “Nevermind” a decade early, the album was seen as the bellwether for a new (read: retro) sound in rock. Since then, the band has nominally remained together, yet each member has released music individually in one form or another. After mellowing out in California, frontman Casablancas released his debut solo album, a sunnier, poppier side more in line with his new West Coast environs. Rumor has it he's calmed down on the boozing that made The Strokes' shows such a raucous affair (read: he nails all the lyrics nows). With Telepathe, Tanlines.
