Blowing the Santos roof off with a Madonna-inspired, strobe-lit, musical Milkshake
Kelis brought her milkshake to Santos Party House over an hour late on Wednesday night. After enduring a line that stretched along Lafayette St. all the way to Walker by 8 p.m., a hot, sweaty, strobe-lit crowd waited with increasing frustration until the lady of the hour hit the stage in a white lace body suit. It was 11 p.m. by then and all was forgiven. Who knew Kelis was the Kylie Minogue of the R&B crowd? She played a mix of old and new, including a mash-up of “Milkshake" and Madonna's “Holiday.” But the roof nearly blew off when she started the title track from her new album—"Acapella"—to a massive sing along.
