Mission of Burma
Before the genre “post-punk” became a ubiquitous, catch-all term for any band with spiky guitar riffs and/or overdependence on eyeliner, Boston’s Mission of Burma was crafting their inimitable music rooted in their punk predecessors—but with a smarter, artier edge. Guitarist Roger Miller’s debilitating case of tinnitus forced the band to split after two albums but, unlike many of their peers, their 2002 reunion yielded not just still-exhilarating live shows, but new music that held up with their classics and people actually enjoyed. (We know. We’re shocked too.) With Fucked Up, Ponytail and Jemina Pearl. View crowd photos.
