Kyle Andrews is the dude responsible for that folk-pop earworm “You Always Make Me Smile”—the one featured in Holiday Inn ads and a viral video built around the world’s largest water balloon fight. But you’d never know it listening to this scrappy, energetic set, which is heavy on the bedroom synths and crunchy, power-pop guitars. “Heart U 4 Ever” sounds like Passion Pit with their guitars turned up; “I’m Coming 2 Get U” plays out like an electro-emo anthem for cyber-stalkers, as Andrews vents his sexual frustration into a laptop mic over increasingly hot and bothered beats. It’s a good look for a guy who, thanks to “You Always Make Me Smile,” was very much in danger of getting forever mislabeled as a Jason Mraz clone.
