Thee Oh Sees, 'Carrion Crawler/The Dream'
For what feels like the San Francisco, Calif., garage rockers' 50th release to date (in reality, 13th, fifth in three years), Thee Oh Sees—helmed by the frenzied John Dwyer—stay on message with a delirious album in "Carrion Crawler/The Dream." The onslaught of sound doesn't let up from the title track, and Dwyer's vocals skip from Ramones to psychedelia to Zappa; standout songs include "Crushed Glass" and the downright devilish "Crack in Your Eye." As a follow-up to May's polarizing "Castlemania," the release might disappoint those who enjoyed the previous album's more folky tunes, but anyone looking for unrelenting rock will find it in spades. –LM
