A night of scuzzy art rock (bunny mask included)
One part performance art to one part rock'n'roll, Goner Records' NOBUNNY hit the stage at the Knitting Factory last night in a get-up of bunny mask and underpants, as well as a few choice accessories. He plays the kind of music that inspires a lot joyful thrashing around, with big smiles followed by hefty shoves. Openers TV Ghost, from Lafayette, IN, were a real surprise. With an almost rockabilly swagger and a floppy pompadour, lead singer Timothy Conrad Glick contorted his way and swallowed his mic through their set, evoking shades of James Chance and Richard Hell in their No Wave glory. With Shellshag.
