Oasis's big brother churns out arena-filling hits old and new
With a brand new album (under the moniker Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, which debuted in the U.K. at #1), Oasis's Noel Gallagher is giving his little brother Liam and his new band Beady Eye a run for his solo project money, all of which is well-documented in the British tabloids and as the 15th anniversary of the release of "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" fast approaches. Noel's brand of songwriting is reliably arena-filling, jukebox jangle (in the best possible way); he writes songs that make all the young boys sing. And indeed, the bro-tastic crowd knew all the words to ALL the songs, a healthy mix of the new album and classic Oasis. We may or may not have joined in... (Side note: Waiting at the stage door for our press passes, a slightly inebriated U.K. lad sauntered up and asked if Liam was here yet. We told him, unfortunately, that no, Liam was not expected.)--Gabi Porter
