Splitting the difference between hipster pop crush and Bjork-esque eccentricity
Scandinavia has been ground zero for bubblegum pop since time immemorial, most notably for ABBA—but more recently with sugary mononymous singers like Annie and Robyn. Danish vocalist Nanna Øland Fabricius—you can call her Oh Land—is the latest entry and splits the difference between new hipster pop crush and Bjork-esque eccentricity. A former ballet dancer, the singer recently moved to Williamsburg and has described her show as "Mary Poppins on acid." Having actually watched "Mary Poppins" on acid, we have to agree from her lean, industry showcasing set at Hiro.
