Sky Ferreira
Pop music gets short shrift these days from both the mainstream and the underground, too effervescent for the hipster set, not enough of a Top 40 spin for the teen and tween sets. But the one place where pop music and pop artists can go for a big warm hug is something like GUMBO, the gay dance party in DUMBO (Gay-DUMBO, geddit?). LA-based pop blogger Arjan Writes brought one of his Superfraiche pop-tastic concerts/dance parties to Galapagos last night.
It was a big night for proto-pop princess Sky Ferreira. Her fans rushed the stage! Big things coming here. The teen minx performed the entirety of her new EP to a crowd who, basically, wanted a lot more. Simon Curtis performed his first New York, playing a generous set to a gushing crowd (and a squeal-inducing a capella Britney Spears cover). Databoy brought hooks and choreography to the pop rocks mix. The night opened with duo She's the Queen.
