Local Natives and eight other bands playing NYC soon
Unseasonably cold weather, a few not-so-special surprises (like the very blah return of Hole), guest list mayhem, one particularly scary cab driver…South by Southwest 2010 had its share of woes, but with thousands of bands spread over four days and nearly a hundred venues, there were also enough moments in this past weekend to make us glad we traveled to Austin.
We’ll leave our trivial objections aside for now– like, say, the lines/crowd control at the Levi's/Fader Fort and PureVolume House. Instead, let’s focus on who rocked, and, more importantly, when those who rocked are coming to New York. Forget the big names and those with established buzz…our slideshow is about those newer bands that surprised us, in a good way.
