A pop-up concert of sorts in the shadows of Midtown
Passersbys in Bryant Park were treated to a surprise free concert on the Southwest Porch. UK indie band (so indie they are completely self-produced and self-released) The Boxer Rebellion played to celebrate the upcoming release of the surprisingly raunchy and edgy Drew Barrymore and Justin Long rom-com "Going the Distance"—in which the band are not only featured on the movie's soundtrack but are written into the plot line. With the sparkle of office windows in the skyscrapers of Midtown as a backdrop, the band showed off their shimmer-pop chops to the gathered crowd. And "hey you!" to the guy who kept requesting Led Zeppelin and U2 songs from the peanut gallery. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!
