The jangly pop group ushers in the next British Invasion
Hipster Brit-poppers The Kooks had a big week in NYC—to kick off their U.S. tour (in support of their third album "Junk of the Heart"), the guys dropped by Letterman and made two sold-out stops at Webster Hall. And if you're going to make that kind of a splash, it helps to bring your own catwalk! Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard certainly needs it—he struts around the stage like a younger Mick Jagger, even as he sounds more like Ray Davies. Full of dreamy hooks and jangly guitars, these Brighton lads come off as modern day torchbearers of the British Invasion. The crowd certainly ate it up, greeting the group with a Bieber-level of shrieking. The Postelles opened the show with their greasers-at-the-sock-hop brand of rock adorableness.--Gabi Porter
