The Naked and Famous
New Zealand's The Naked and Famous are exactly the kind of band you'd assume you've never heard of while their songs play endlessly around you, popping up left and right on your favorite TV shows and commercials. Nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll at the end of last year, the newcomers have struck gold with their electro-indie-pop sound, particularly on the MGMT-tinged track "Youngblood." Their harmonized, summer-drenched songs have catapulted them from the tiny island homeland to the international music scene, where this debut continues to make waves. Thursday, they played their largest show yet in NYC at Webster Hall. With Chain Gang of 1974.
