The New Pornographers
Only a few months since they both took the stage together—okay, fine, separately but on the same day— at Matador 21 in Las Vegas, Jersey's Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Vancouver-Brooklyn octet (when they're all together) The New Pornographers both graced a New York stage for the first time. A big stage. Both groups revel in classic pop songwriting with dizzying rock flourishes, but where our porno-minded friends go for the ornate and ambitious, Leo and Co. opt for more of a DIY punk influence.
