The Pogues
Last night Metromix attended the ultimate St. Patty's celebration, The Pogues at Terminal 5, rumored to be the band's last US show... like ever. Forget the parade, forget the pub crawling, but don't forget the Guinness, if you didn't at least *want* to be at this show, we might have to revoke your green-wearing, St Patty's party privileges forevermore. This was the third night of a three-night run--the March 17th date sold out months ago--and for one night only Terminal 5 turned into an Irish Pub that fit 3,000 revelers. If you've ever heard "Dirty Old Town" come on the jukebox at a bar and started (or participated in) a singalong, then a 3,000 voice singalong, with all the accompanying arms-over-shoulders swaying one would expect, might bring you to beery tears, as it nearly did us. The guy standing next to us at the bar, in line for our ninth or tenth Guinness said, "When I married my wife 25 years ago, I played this song for her and she looked at me and said, 'WHAT?'... And see, there she is right over there singing along today." Slainte! With Titus Andronicus. --Gabi Porter
