Luna Lounge
- Neighborhood: Williamsburg

At its former Lower East Side location, Luna Lounge was once a launching pad for New York rock revivalists The Strokes, stellastarr and Mooney Suzuki—hosting formal residencies and late-night jam sessions that would eventually attract legions of rock critics and A&R suits. But in 2006, after a protracted battle with a landlord, the Ludlow Street location was shuttered to make way for a shiny condo. 2007 welcomed Luna Lounge 2.0, Williamsburg’s reincarnation of the original, but with more floor room (300 people can comfortably watch a show) and expanded banquet seating for optimal sightlines. The sound can be rough at times—the wide space is in a converted garage and the cinderblock walls don’t help matters. But a progressive, Brooklyn-leaning slate makes for many blogged-about shows.
