Opened by Carl Redding in 1998, just a year after grandma Amy Ruth passed away, this bastion of Southern authenticity is a delight to behold. The food is strictly traditional American soul dishes, whose monikers are derived from prominent African Americans. Order the "Barbara Askins" (fried or smothered pork chops), the "Rev. Al Sharpton (fried or smothered chicken and waffles) or “The Ludicris” (fried chicken wings). For dessert, try the “Neal Shoemaker” (peach cobbler) or  the "Ressie Mae Bass" (sweet potato pie).
