Amy's Bread
- Neighborhood: Midtown West
- 672 Ninth Ave.
- New York, NY 10036
A Hell's Kitchen staple since 1992, Amy Scherber's bakery is easily one of the cutest places to grace this Ninth Avenue stretch. Intimate and cozy—the inside seats only 12—the bakery serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as delicious snacks in between. Most of the bread is baked at the Chelsea Market location, but devotees of the stuff can still get their fix here. Newcomers can choose from several different breads, but the signature offering—semolina with golden raisins and fennel—is a sure bet, too. Cookies, cupcakes and layer cakes all have their place alongside the lunch and dinner salads and sandwiches, but it's the bread that's tops.
