There are two reasons why Bouchon Bakery can afford to sell a piece of pound cake for $4.75: First, it was opened by Thomas Keller, who is so revered and respected in the culinary world that his dinners cost as much as a monthly mortgage, and second, well, it's a pretty damn good piece of pound cake. Pastries, however in abundance, aren't the only draw here: A host of sandwiches, such as roast beef and fontina on palladin, are available, as are soups and even foie grois. Grab a quick bite at the counter or sit down in the cafe.
