Building on Bond
- Neighborhood: Boerum Hill
- 100 Bond St.
- Brooklyn, Ny 11217
Ever wish you could step out your office door and run smack dab into a chill café instead of another Bank of America branch? Veteran restaurant designers John Kole and Phil Morgan (the guys behind spots like Stanton Social and The Box) took the initiative and did it themselves, setting up their own office space behind their own Boerum Hill spot, Building on Bond. The roomy café-by-day/bar-by-night boasts coffee and espresso from free-trade purveyor Grounds for Change, a full bar, and Stella, Guinness and more on tap. Besides libations, there are a handful of local pastries available and—within a few weeks—a full menu of American bistro fare. For local laptop fiends, "campout Wi-Fi" is available all day, so if these guys just build a flophouse upstairs, they'll never have to leave their own little corner of the city.
