Like a Brighton Beach Russian who wears an expensive fur but can't pay rent on her dingy apartment, the chic Le Parker Meridien Hotel houses what appears to be a dingy burger shack on its ground floor. Make no mistake, this is no Daniel Boulud-in-sheep's clothing— everything about this greasy spoon is vintage, from the plump patties to the large ketchup containers to the (gasp! no whole-grain?) simple white buns to the fake wood. The best part of this little slice of heaven, hidden behind a large curtain in the lobby, is the price (burger and draft pint cost as much round-trip subway fare to Brooklyn for you and Svetlana).
