Fresh owner Eric Tevrow's successful wholesale purveyor biz Early Morning Seafood supplies Nova Scotia-caught fish to tons of New York's top tables—including his own minimalist-chic Tribeca outpost. Outfitted in cooling oceanic shades of blues and greens, soft white lighting and blurred beach-scene frescos, it’s an ideal choice for diners craving a taste of summer—both for the décor and the successfully unfussy yet superlative menu. Executive chef Kento Komoto prepares daily catches with seasonal vegetables, herbal essences and kicky spices instead of heavy sauces and creams, which enhance the fish’s moist texture and distinct individual flavor. Choose from a roster of “simply grilled” cuts— among them whole Mediterranean bronzini and Florida Warsaw grouper, or select from a list of more involved entrées like rock shrimp and mussel risotto, or sunflower seed-crusted halibut with pea purée, maitake and asparagus. Side dishes like sticky rice with mushrooms and garlic, as well as the standout chili-marinated Asian eggplant are offered à la carte.
