One of the Theater District's most venerable restaurants is still a contender. Expect theatrical posters, framed Playbills and other memorabilia hanging on the exposed brick walls, proclaiming it as a hangout for actors, directors, wannabes—fans, too. At lunchtime, it's a mix of neighborhood folks and theater groups looking for a pre-curtain bite. The bar dispenses a good selection of micro-brews and single malts and it's friendly enough that a newcomer can strike up a conversation. In the dining room, stick with standard American favorites: burgers, steaks, grilled chicken and fish.
