The Bowery is one happening street when it comes to restaurants. If you're in the mood for pizza, you can hit Pulino's for some pies from chef Nate Appleman. If you're hungry for something a little more down home, check out this American spot from the minds behind Lower East Side favorite Freemans. The thing that both have in common? Massive crowds. Expect a wait at this bi-level spot from Taavo Somer and Will Tigertt. They're billing it as a rustic American diner, so you can look forward to dishes like fried chicken, burgers and mac and cheese. During the day, the downstairs space houses a coffee and bake shop where you can grab biscuits, sandwiches and soups. At night, the well-heeled will travel up the stairs to the dining room for the heartier options. Note to the suburbs: This is what a real diner should look like.
