While checking out the menu, a hungry couple on line at this newest Shake Shack busted out something you don't normally see at other Shacks: an English-language phrase book. Oui, oui—this new, tourist-friendly branch of Danny Meyer's celebrated burger franchise, right off Port Authority, has "Times Square" stamped all over it (check out the bling-tastic "Shake Shack" sign that flashes like a Broadway marquee). But the flavors here need no translation: Meyer's famous burger menu remains intact—ShackBurgers, 'Shroom Burgers, Shack-cago Dog, frozen custards. He's also added some new items that pay homage to the nabe, including frozen custards like the Great White Way (vanilla, marshmallow, crunchies) and Pretzel! (yep, there's an exclamation point there—chocolate, peanut butter, pretzels, marshmallows). This is the biggest Shack yet—almost double the size of the Upper West Side location—and wait times are looking less epic than you'd expect. Not too shabby for the best pre-theater meal to come along in ages. Give 'em a Tony Award!
