Mission: Eat 2,011 wings in 2011. Do not die.

While many of us were sleeping off our hangovers, Ryan Hohman had a productive New Year's Day.  "I was bouncing funny New Year's resolutions off a friend via text message," recalls the 27-year-old Hoboken resident. "One was to count every wing I ate in 2011." Soon after, Hohman was updating his count on Facebook and by the end of the weekend, he had created a fan page for the Ultimate Wingman, which will document his quest to consume 2,011 wings over the course of the calendar. With the winds of social media stardom at his back, we caught up with admitted sports freak. What, you thought he has to going to eat these things while watching "Hoarders" re-runs?

Why wings and not burgers or pizza or deviled eggs or pies or tacos?
Burgers? I'm not a big burger guy. I do love pizza, pies and tacos but I prefer a chicken wing. There's just something about it. Deviled eggs? Now that's a great idea! Although, that one might leave me single...

Do you think NYC is a good wing town?
I think NYC is a wing-tastic wing town! Coming from a small town in Ohio, my wing options were limited. Back home, I'd usually hit up chains like Buffalo Wild Wings, Quaker Steak and Lube, and a local favorite, The Clover Club in Tiffin, Ohio. When I moved here five years ago, I felt like I had landed in wing heaven. Compared to home, there are so many cool, divey bars offering great wings. I couldn't get enough.

My go-to spot in NYC is Croxley Ales in the East Village (pictured). Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays they offer 10-cent wings. The wings aren't the meatiest in the world, but their sauces are to die for. My number one place to consume chicken wings, hands down, is at the Green Rock in Hoboken. They only offer one sauce, but are meaty and juicy. You can find me there Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays—that's when they offer their 35-cent wing special.

Are you taking this challenge on the road?
There are no definite plans to travel yet but I will consider it if the opportunity arises. In the past 48 hours I've been contacted by several bars and restaurants across the country asking me to try their wings and sauces, so traveling isn't out of the picture. My friend Pete from Buffalo suggested I eat wing number 2,011 at The Anchor Bar "Home of the Buffalo Wing" in Buffalo. If that happens, Metromix is invited! One place I will be stopping is Buffalo Wild Wings in Bowling Green, Ohio, a place my friends and I would eat wings in college.

2,011 wings cannot be healthy for you. Are you taking any steps to, say, avoid dying in 2011?
I've been hearing that a lot lately! When I'm not eating wings, I'll be consuming fruits, vegetables, salads, and all those other good things like antacids. I also plan on working out more than I do now. I run and lift weights two days a week. But understanding the bodily effects of consuming 2,011 wings in a year, I am aiming to hit the gym hard, five days a week.

How often are you eating wings?
Before I started the wing challenge, I ate wings two to three times a week. I plan on sticking to that schedule. I have to eat a little over 5 wings a day to hit 2,011.

Do you eat an entire wing-including skin and gristle?
Absolutely. How else would you eat them?

What do you drink with wings?
Usually ice cold beer, a Coke or water. It all depends if I'm in the mood for boozing.
