Far from the rustic, faux-thentic Texas paraphernalia of Hill Country and the weathered picnic tables of Fette Sau lies swanky Chimney Barbecue & Sushi Bar in Spanish Harlem. But before you cringe at the thought of 'cue being served alongside seaweed salad, step back and ponder the possibilities. While there are always a few pesky pescatarians who bristle at smoked meats, most of the city's barbecue joints give you little option but to leave the naysayers at home. At Chimney, chef Mallik Fall (Boucarou Lounge) is turning out a range of red-meatless dishes like grilled miso glazed salmon, tempura soft shell crabs and an assortment of sushi. So while it may seem a bit like blaspheme to indulge in dry-rubbed ribs (smoked over maple, apple and hickory embers) in these sleek, lounge-y environs, sometimes it's nice to indulge the whims of those less-enlightened, non-barbecue hounds among us.
