Opening in October
Michael Bao's got a new restaurant? Ya don't say! No dining preview would be complete without a new spot from the mega-prolific restaurant. So ... the guy's opening two! This time, he goes from Southeast Asia to south-of-the border with two Vietnamese-meets-Mexico hybrids. In early September, he opens Baorito at the old Baoguette/Thao Noodles space in Murray Hill, and it'll feature Asian-style burritos done-up in the same kind of cheap-and-quick takeout mode that made his Baoguette chain such a hit. In early October, Huynh will be converting his Bia Garden space on the Lower East Side into Chinito Bia and Taqueria-from bierhaus to cantina! Here, he'll be whipping up tacos like tandoori chicken and lemongrass-curry beef. And because Michael Bao never met a pun he didn't like, he'll be serving a "Bibimbao" taco stuffed with bulgogi and kimchi.
