While Queens is arguably the city's most diverse culinary melting pot, authentic Japanese cuisine is still hard to come by. But thanks to the husband-and-wife team behind popular Midtown spot Seo Restaurant, the borough can turn to Katsuno to get their fix. The menu is a veritable smorgasbord of Japanese favorites, from miso-marinated grilled steak, to a slew of teriyaki, to udon and buckwheat noodles. For fans of the raw stuff, there's a full range of sushi and sashimi, and the chef's choice omakase meals range from $30–$50 depending on your taste. While the decor is slightly understated, with restaurant supply store chairs and Japanese fan wall hangings, the focus is on the food: much more important in a neighborhood in need of a go-to spot for Japanese cuisine.
