We like conveyor belts, we really do. Airports, yes. SPAM factories, yes. Sushi joints, um … oops, that sashimi we wanted just rolled by. Welcome to the latest food gimmick courtesy of this popular Asian chain, where food is plopped onto a 97-foot conveyor belt and diners get to pluck dishes at will—think of it as a whacked-out buffet in which the food comes to you instead. The conveyor belt, which runs alongside the tables, churns out plates (sushi, other small bites) that are color-coded for price. Diners can also use an “interactive menu” on a nearby flat-screen TV to customize their orders, while hot water is piped directly to each table, in case you need that green tea, pronto!
