Bleary-eyed East Villagers won’t need to haul to First and First during the morning wee hours for their fix of Down Under fixins. Up on St. Mark’s Place, eight blocks to the north of its flagship site, Tuck Shop has opened an even larger gorge-atorium. It’s a high-efficiency setup, say the saucy Aussies running the joint, because its drool-worthy pies—like a traditional meat pie, chook pie and Thai curry pie—will be dressed up at the smaller spot and delivered for baking to the bigger one. Daily specials, like tiger prawn pies, will continue buzzing taste buds while at the zinc bar it'll be a race to coffee perfection, especially for those kick-ass flat whites. The cheeky humor of the menu remains undimmed (the Peter Allen dessert is fruity, don't'cha know), but it’s the milkshake menu and those Tim Tams cookies that people queue for—a sugar rush that’ll leave you flat on your outback.
