A few feet down from the tiny indie-designer boutique Ethereal LIC and fave nabe chill-out spot Lounge 47, Communitea inspires freelancer-artist types to get out of their apartments and into a clean, visually stimulating environment for a bit of Wi-Fi-and-coffee-fueled ‘net surfing. Coffee drinks run the gamut of hot Ghiradelli-chocolate lattes and iced red eyes; sandwiches and breakfast platters conjure thoughts Frisco’s Haight-Ashbury district, Park Slope or any other hipster-hippie part of town. Hot-pressed paninis are best stuffed with peppers, goat cheese or house-made pesto; meat lovers should opt for the mango-chutney-mayo-laced chicken curry salad. vegetarian selections and smoothies are bountiful here, and tea lovers will have a field day selecting from the assortment of greens, blacks, oolongs and other loose-leaf varieties.
