Glass plays an integral role in this Crown Heights café: Not only is Glass Shop housed in an old glass workshop, it features Australian-style espresso drinks served in traditional stemless glass cups, too. Co-owner Francesco Agostino is a Melbourne barista who's bringing a little Down Under flare to the city's coffee scene, churning out La Colombe espresso-based Americanos, lattes and more on the shop's La Spaziale machine (partner Kathryn Weatherup confesses to having already broken one machine only a couple weeks in!). The space retains a pseudo-industrial feel from its workshop days, with a few small tables and one large communal table in a back room. But come balmy weather, the large backyard will make room for more than 30 additional guests. Besides the java, you'll find a handful of ciabatta sandwiches (smoked ham and remoulade, eggs and cucumber) and house-made sweets including an intriguing olive oil cake.
