It's no surprise that you'll find Maison Laduree among the boutiques of upper Madison Avenue: The famous Paris-based macaron shop's wares are as refined (and expensive) as porcelain from Bardith or Graff diamonds. Well, almost—the dainty pastries are certainly prized. Since the beginning of the 20th century Laduree has been making the almond-based confectioneries in a variety of flavors and with all manner of fillings. Today those combinations include seasonal options like strawberry and mint, chocolate and lime, spice and soft fruits, and year-round staples flavored with chocolate, coffee or rose. Laduree, now a presence in major cities across the globe, has likewise expanded the product line to include cakes, chocolates, candles and beauty products, all of which are available at the Madison Avenue store.
