Paradiso
Venice native Alessandra Veronese is behind this "la casa del tiramisu" (or so their signage touts) in the East Village, serving up four types of the namesake dessert: classic chocolate, mixed berry, and chocolate-and-banana. Savory bites, however, aren't strangers in Paradiso: Veronese, who also owned East Village pasta spot La Casalinga before closing it last year, offers a selection of about 10 panini—from a mozzarella-tomato-basil-pesto version, to prosciutto-and-asiago—made with ciabatta from Balthazar Bakery.
