A single-story cloud-blue storefront no bigger than a mom-and-pop shop—formerly Oak, an upscale men’s clothier—Scandanavian Grace Kafé is Fredrik Larsson and James Anthony’s third outpost for northern European design and caffeination, following spots in Williamsburg and outside Woodstock, N.Y. Everyone—even people who’ve sworn off the stuff—raves about their Lofbergs Lila espresso, a java jolt that crossbreeds strong Indian beans with brewed Guatamalan brawn. As you pick off pastries as smile-inducing as an endless Stockholm sunset—and especially if you’re looking for something less icky than mass-produced Ikea—there is an unusual selection of utilitarian housewares from the innovative countries of the European north, including hot-spring-laden Iceland. And don’t forget to cram some condiments into your carry-all.
