Ear Inn
- 326 Spring St.
- New York, NY 10013
- 212-431-9750
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Located on the ground floor of the James Brown House, a designated landmark built before 1817, the Ear Inn has been serving thirsty sailors, scribes and low-key Soho regulars since then. Relatively untouched, the interior is a mix of low ceilings that may or may not be caving in, highly uneven wooden floors, seafaring paraphernalia and a long well worn wooden bar. Ironically, it’s always packed due mostly to its easygoing reputation, but if you drop in early and grab a seat at the bar, you’ll be privy to friendly barkeeps and expertly poured pints. Hungry? Try and score a table in the bustling back room for better-than-good American and Irish eats.
