No matter how hard I try, I can never seem to summon Don Draper's boardroom oratorical powers. I aim for his Shakespearean eloquence, but end up coming off like the manic Tom Green on "Celebrity Apprentice." Is it possible that a lack of Don's midday drinking is what's holding me back from reaching Draperian heights? Now may be my chance to test out that hypothesis.

In a throwback to the days of the martini lunch, The Russian Tea Room is trying to entice parsimonious lunchtime diners with the addition of a complimentary Czar's Gold Vodka martini with every Business-Express lunch. In a sad statement on how dire the situation has gotten, the $35 three course meal (featuring options like a duck prosciutto chef's salad) was originally introduced to attract price-sensitive lunchers, but now they've had to throw in free booze as well. I have to agree that the price is right for lunch and a drink at this opulent Midtown landmark, but with companies laying off employees on the daily, I'm not so sure that tying one on at noontime is the best way to keep yourself off the chopping block.
