Opening in 2010
We’ve been told that a “known quantity” will be spearheading the menu at this English gastropub from Chris Walsh (One Little West 12th) and Rocco Ancarola (Pink Elephant). The bi-level space is modeled after London gastro-grandaddy The Eagle and comes handsomely wrapped in ivy, with an old-fashioned wooden staircase separating the parlor-like dining room upstairs from the loungier downstairs area, which is decorated with English bric-a-brac. (The ceiling of the upstairs dining room will be painted black and dotted with white, giving an appropriate "night sky with full moon" effect, while the downstairs will have a pressed-tin ceiling and a more drink-centric vibe.) The menu will feature English comfort foods like shepherds pie, cod with shrimp butter and parsley mash, and baked figs with whiskey ice cream. On the booze side, the cocktails will mixed by bartenders Ancarola is calling "chefs du Bar" (oof), the wines eclectic, and the beers artisanal. Oh, and the name, by the way, comes from a myth that says if you look at the full moon and see a shadow that reminds you of a rabbit, you're in love. Or so says Ancarola.
