Trans-fat may be history, but there's enough salt in this burger joint to make the Dead Sea feel like a drowning pool. Five Guys is a bare-essentials franchise that originated in Washington D.C. and now grills its freezer-less beef in 20 states, including Florida, Colorado and Pandemonium (aka the Midtown Manhattan location). Here, it's much of the same: fresh ground beef, Kraft American cheese and some basic toppings like pickles and jalepenos, all piled together as awkwardly as a cowboy riding the subway. Add hand-cut fries and peanut barrels while you wait, and somehow, it all works.
