Artists Jeffrey Lohn and Maria Bussmann have "reclaimed" this one-time Bushwick autoglass shop and converted it into coffeeshop, restuarant and outdoor space they hope will serve as a desitnation point in this evolving neighborhood. A bounty of vegetables come from the large frontyard garden, complete with a lawn where cafegoers can secrue a spot on retro lawn furniture. Along with Portorico coffee, by day the menu includes bagels, homemade breads and fresh pressed juices. The evening gives way to more of a cookout atmosphere where meat and veggie burgers come complete with fixins straight from the garden. Charging no more than $8 for a platter (a burger includes a salad and a "medley of chips"), this could be a refreshing deal in a time when this working man's meal is increasingly seeing a white-collar makeover.
