Woody Allen said that what makes New York the greatest city on earth is that, if you wanted, you could get jerk chicken at 4 a.m. His actual quote used duck wonton soup as an example, but you get the point: this 24-hour Jamaican takeout stand in Prospect Park/Lefferts Gardens is the kind of cheap, good, regional foreign food the outerboroughs are all about. Peppa, who is actually Pepper of the famed Danny and Pepper's, struck out on his own after a disagreement and took his spicy sauce with him. He drenches it over his specialties—crispy jerk chicken and escoveitch fish, which can be a snapper fried with onions, peppers and vinegar—in his table-less, reggae-filled hotspot.
