After several false starts, the Gramercy Park Hotel's buzzed-about Chinese restaurant takes off with the renowned Japanese chef Yuji Wakiya at the helm. The inventive Chinese fare is divided into cold plates, hot plates, soups, noodles and rice, and dishes come in small portions meant to be shared. Best of luck making it through the aptly named Fiery Red Pepper Hunt, a mound of Sichuan chilies that conceals crispy bits of chicken and lobster. At least you can feast your eyes on the restaurant's striking red-on-black design while trying to recover from the chilies.
