Camel and dark brown, like a leopard with stripes instead of spots, color this sophisticated French-accented American contemporary restaurant. The location, in the east 50s, is not the most foodie-friendly and peoples the place with a more Citigroup / expense account crowd swapping secrets about best train times back to Connecticut. Still, Kevin Cahill's menu is interesting and refined enough to care— there's Franco influences abound with classic French dishes like cassoulet and chicken paillard with white truffle oil. Some of the best bites are had not in the back dining room but in the busier front bar, like medjool dates, pulled pork belly with currant pancakes and (for dessert) chick pea crepes with sauteed strawberries, honey and goat cheese mousse.
