As reported earlier this week by Eater, Cal Elliot, the former co-chef at Dressler and Dumont, has gone solo with this New American spot in South Williamsburg. Elliot tells us that the place, which has a woodsy, Old World vibe, is still a work in progress and is currently doing friends-and-family meals only, although he'll happily serve to walk-ins eager to get an early taste of his menu. The menu itself, he says, is still evolving, although Elliot describes it as "contemporary American food, market-driven." Early reports have cited dishes like seared scallops and pork belly with lentils, although Elliot hopes to hammer out a more defined menu within the next week. As for the official opening, he's shooting for right after Easter, although "it depends on how I feel about everything. Right now, we're having friends and family, but the public is welcome to come in. I'm trying to take it easy 'cause we're just trying to get our feet under us."
