This is Dominique Ansel's first solo foray after stints at acclaimed pastry house Fauchon and six years under the tutelage of Daniel Boulud. The Soho spot, located on a semi-quiet strip of Spring Street, is the perfect stop-over for shoppers looking to provide respite to their credit cards over an espresso and kouign-amann (that would be a Breton version of a croissant), or a croque monsieur. The breakfast menu, which includes a few egg sandwiches, is sure to draw locals in need of a grab-and-go meal, but they'll be missing out on the opportunity to kick back and relax in the enclosed back garden while noshing on that brioche.
