Are vegan ice creameries the next fro-yo phenomenon of the East Village? Hot off the heels of Lula’s Sweet Apothecary comes this sleek, modern shop (with no relation to Malcolm Stogo of the Ice Cream University other than in name) offering over 16 flavors of organic, soy-based scoops. In addition to the obvious standards (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mint chocolate chip), more ambitious flavors such as honey lavender, cardamom pistachio and vanilla goji berry crunch appeal to adventurous palates beyond the vegans they cater to. Stogo's got more toppings than a Red Mango, so prepare to load up chocolate and vanilla soft serve with cookie bits, golden Himalayan raisins, raw cacao nibs and seasonal fruits. There’s also muffins, cookies and brownies from vegan bakery Babycakes, spelt and gluten-free cupcakes, raw chocolates, and fair-trade coffee and organic teas.
